8 Nollywood Stars who were banned from acting (images)

It was a popular story in the early 2000's. I don't think indomie generation will be familiar with this gist, the G8. It was about the eight popular actors, who were banned from Nollywood for a year.

It was because of their outrageous prices they demand from producers to be featured in their films.

As a result, they were banned from starring in Nollywood movies for a period of one year and this paved way for the likes of Ini Edo, Tonto Dikeh, Mercy Johnson to prosper in the industry.


Following the temporary suspension, actresses like Stella Damasus, Omotola Jalade and Genevieve Nnaji tried a shot at music, but their music career wasn't really a hit. And when the ban was lifted, they all returned to acting.

Speaking in an interview years later, Ramsey Nouah said the ban had a huge impact on the movie industry, and paved way for a new era.

In 2011, Omotola Jalade said the ban was a kind of a revolutionary stage in Nollywood, and that as a result, actors are now well paid.
